SROI in practice

In several countries and types of projects CDP has implemented the SROI methodology. Below some of these experiences are outlined.

TANZANIA: Shinyanga Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme (SRWSSP)
SRWSSP in the Shinyanga region of Tanzania was completed in 2008 and had already been thoroughly evaluated. CDP performed a SROI analysis to learn about and demonstrate the added value of the methodology in relation to the more conventional evaluation. It appeared possible to get to the same results on impact (and more!) in a short period of time.  Read more…

RWANDA: Labour Intensive Road Construction
As part of a large mid-term evaluation of this project, CDP applied the SROI methodology to assess the social and economic benefits of a constructed road. The exercise clearly indicated how much financial benefit a road created in the area it opens up. These results prove practical in new projects when discussing future maintenance with the intended beneficiaries. Read more…

CAMEROON: Income generating project
For a European NGO, CDP implemented a SROI analysis to indicate the added value of such initiatives according to the target group. In itself, the project is only about income generation, however other effects turned out to be at stake. Read more…
