Stuart Pearson started his overseas work in 1966 in Nigeria when he changed from farming in Wales to development engineering in particular irrigation, water supply and mechanisation in the development sector. He has particular interest and experience in the genuine functioning of user participation in development work. He has spent 25 years engaged in overseas posts where he has worked in technical execution and long term project management mostly at Team Leader level. He has in addition to Nigeria worked in West Indies, Senegal, India, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Afghanistan, Rwanda and United Kingdom.
When working in U.K. he was College Engineering Department Head. This role gave him the experience which is particularly useful when anticipating the personal development potential and training needs of project beneficiaries at all levels. His Post Graduate qualifications were gained at National College of Agricultural Engineering, now a school of Cranfield University and The University College of Wales.
He has good working knowledge of French.
