Kees Zevenbergen is a seasoned expert in the broad field of international cooperation. He has gained extensive experience in various countries in Africa and has held advisory as well as senior management positions for both international development NGO as well as government and private sector actors. During his endeavours, he has always focused on intelligently aligning interventions with national and local priorities and dynamics and on capacity development of actors that, at the end of the day, are the sole owners of both the problem as well as the solution. He has experienced that properly designed monitoring and evaluation systems and routines, introduced right from the start of any intervention and flexibly adapted along the way, are of key importance to result-orientation and effective learning on what works and what does not.

Since 2008, Mr Zevenbergen has purposefully freed himself from the larger institutional interests in the development business and acts as a free agent in international cooperation. He has since actively engaged as facilitator, advisor and team leader in many a multi-actor strategy process, often proceeded by broad spectre evaluatory exercises.
