Dr. Van den Dries is a graduate in Tropical Land and Water Use, in which he obtained his Doctorate in 2002. He gained experience in diverse socio-economic, institutional and physical environments. His long-term assignments include irrigation engineer and project manager in Mozambique, land reform adviser in Nicaragua, research on irrigation systems in Northern Portugal and manager of water projects in Angola. Dr. Van den Dries has participated in various formulation and evaluation missions in, among other, the Philippines, Ecuador and Mozambique. He lectured courses in irrigation and water management in Pakistan, Mozambique and at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He has excellent working knowledge of English and Portuguese.
